Leia: “Han?”
Han: “Yeah, sweetie.”
Leia: “How do you teach a man not to be a noble, long-suffering, self-sacrificing idiot?”
Han: “I don’t know, sweetie. Mostly I shoot them.”
Leia: “I’ll consider that.”

Here’s a little video my cousin David produced to get the word out about the attempted ban of gay marriage in California. Pass it on to everyone you know in California. Remember, all citizens deserve the same rights, no matter their race, creed, or orientation. Except for, y’know, Canadians.

Due to the incredibly high volume of requests that Codeweavers has received today (way to go, Digg), it is taking up to several days for new serial number requests to come in. As a result, those who want their free software today, CodeWeavers has started allowing you to download fully unlocked versions of their software. The advantage to this is that you don’t have to bother putting your e-mail address and password in to unlock the trial version that they were letting you download last night. So go get your free copy now, but don’t forget to put in your e-mail address and watch for your serial number. You don’t want to miss out on your free year of support, future updates, and ability to re-download the software in the future (all of which require an account).
That’s right, I said PRO. As in, the full version of CrossOver Mac, which includes CrossOver Games. It also includes 12 months of support at Level 2, and the ability to renew support every year for $35 (or free if they ever have a promotion like this again). This is a $70 value, for $0 and you really can’t beat that. But remember, you have until 11:59 PM (23:59) Central Standard Time to sign up and use your free serial key to authenticate. The serial keys will no longer be good after that time, so go do it now.
The guys over at CodeWeavers said that if President George W. Bush would actually accomplish one of several goals in his last days as President that they would give away free software for one day. One of those goals was to get gas prices in the Twin Cities down to $2.79/gal. Sadly, this actually occurred as the economy imploded (blame Codeweavers, they’re willing to take the blame.
The good news is, tomorrow you can visit CodeWeavers’ website and get free software (probably the standard version of CrossOver Mac, but possibly CrossOver Games, as well). This is kind of a big deal for those of you with Intel Macs but don’t want to a) waste hard drive space on—, or b) have to pay for Windows. So be sure to check ’em out tomorrow. For all the details on the reasoning for this and the other goals that President Bush can achieve to result in another free software day in the future, visit this site.

I found this over at Thorswitch.com and am reposting it here. It came from a Live Journal page originally, but check out Thorswitch.com if you get a chance and be sure to leave some nice comments if you have time.
John Hodgman is best known for his portrayal of PC in the Mac vs. PC ads, however he is an accomplished writer and actor, as well. He spoke at TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) this year, an organization whose sole purpose is to promote the spreading of ideas. The video is embedded below. He recently released a new book, which you can get more information on from his blog. I highly recommend the new book, as I have the audiobook of his previous one: The Areas of My Expertise. I enjoy the audiobooks immensely, as they are read by Hodgman himself in his delightfully deadpan manner.
Incidentally, J.J. Abrams, creator of “Lost” and “Alias” also spoke. You can view his video here.

The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in just one month. It runs from November 1st through the 30th. I’ve never done it before, but I think it’ll be fun. And, all you have to do to win, is finish the novel in time. It doesn’t even have to be good, just help you to write more often.
Come on, Justin, I know you’re just dying to try it.
