{"id":1117,"date":"2009-03-24T08:24:10","date_gmt":"2009-03-24T13:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zephyrusanemoi.com\/blog\/?p=1117"},"modified":"2020-02-06T20:27:54","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T02:27:54","slug":"abilene-christian-universitys-great-iphone-experiment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zepfhyr.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/abilene-christian-universitys-great-iphone-experiment\/","title":{"rendered":"Abilene Christian University&#039;s great iPhone experiment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must admit, that when I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2008\/02\/26\/acu-dishing-out-iphone-ipod-touch-to-all-incoming-freshmen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first heard<\/a> about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intomobile.com\/2008\/02\/26\/want-a-free-iphone-go-to-abilene-christian-university.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACU&#8217;s plan<\/a> to issue an iPhone or iPod Touch to all incoming freshmen at the start of this school year, I was rather excited. When the announcement was first made, iPhone 2.0 had not yet been announced, the 3G was yet to be seen. Only the original iPhone and iPod Touch were available and my brain-parts ran rampant with ideas on how awesome this could be.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, with the advent of an official Apple SDK, much of the theorizing about ACU&#8217;s plans fell by the wayside, but I was still very interested to hear how it all turned out. Will Continue iPhone Giveaway, but Gadgets Add to Worries About Cheating<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cio.com\/article\/452714\/iPhone_University_At_ACU_Students_Navigate_College_Life_via_Apple_iPhone?page=1&amp;taxonomyId=1436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPhone University: At ACU, Students Navigate College Life via Apple iPhone<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A video podcast that shows off ACU&#8217;s web portal developed specifically for the iPhone is <a href=\"http:\/\/deimos3.apple.com\/WebObjects\/Core.woa\/Browse\/acu.edu.1453813023.01721029855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I&#8217;m looking forward to seeing more widespread adoption in additional universities and corporations.
