jPar's worst Twitter experience

I logged in to Twitter the other day to be assaulted by this assorted nonsense from my good friend jPar. Thankfully, it was not a sign of the impending apocalypse (close, but in a true portent of doom he would have been informed that he can invite friends via Hotmail, rather than Gmail; close call, but saved by a small detail).

First Kiss (March 9, 2005)

• chemical impulses course throughout
• bio-electricity races across the surface
• irises dilate, optic nerves fill with light
• respiration heightens, oxygenated blood fills the head
• skin tingles as nerves hit full alert
• hair stands up, reaching for tactile connection
• heart pounds behind calcium prison bars, threatening to break free
• endorphins explode in the brain, near-perfect bliss
…first kiss

Delicious Library updated and added to links section

I spent the last couple days updating my Delicious Library with the stuff that I got for Christmas and getting it published online. So here’s a link to check out my collection. I’ve also added it to the links section on the right, so feel free to come back and check it out later. I took the time to add all the board games I could find in the house to the Toys section and even got some entries into the Gadgets section, as well. If you don’t know what Delicious Library is, you need to check out their web site.

I bring these links to thee

Web

World Superhero Registry – Ever dreamed of putting on a costume and fighting crime? Actually put on a costume and go out to fight crime? Then this website is for you. While a large number of individuals on the site are actually poseurs, the purpose of the site is for vigilantes to see that they’re not alone and work together. I’m not even joking. Whether the creators intended for the site to be a legitimate crime-fighting social network or just a tongue-in-cheek way of poking fun, they certainly designed the website to take itself seriously.

Video

Dr. Horrible on DVD – Joss Whedon pimps it for me pretty well here, but if you’ve already seen it, you should just go ahead and buy it. The commentary is its own separate musical that must be heard to be believed.

9 – Trailer for the animated feature, produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, director of Night Watch (iTunes), Day Watch (iTunes), and Wanted (iTunes). Currently, the one movie I’m seriously excited about come autumn.

Games

Passage – Some of you that know me have heard me talk about this game before. It’s a simple, minimalistic, 5-minute, expressionist life-journey in game form. It recently became available for the iPhone for $0.99 and is an excellent buy if you like to help support true visionaries in the gaming genre.

Burn the Rope – Another minimalist game, this one is a simple Flash game that takes less than a minute to enjoy (but give it 5 minutes of your time and it’s even better). The art work and style of the game are very neo-retro and well worth brief distraction from productivity the game provides.

Warfare Incorporated – I’ve talked about this one on the blog before, so skip it if you read it already. While not as minimalist as the two games above, this game is incredible for the very simple reason that it is essentially Command & Conquer for the iPhone. It’s $5, but it’s totally worth it, especially as it has over 200 downloadable maps available for it beyond the built-in campaign. The devs are also hard at work adding in multiplayer support for future revisions, so check it out.

What I’ve gleaned from rewatching Lost, Season 3

The funeral that The Others hold speaks strongly of cult-like behavior. For example, the attendees are required to wear special, entirely white clothing. While not technically a cult (depending on whom you ask), the Mormon Church requires members that enter the temple to wear special clothing that is entirely white and contains 4 marks on it that are considered holy symbols. There are other religious sects that require similar dress codes for holy events.

Ben’s father is played by the same actor that played Lazlo Hollyfeld in Real Genius? Coincidence? I think not. In fact, I think that this is a clue to the origins of some of the characters on The Island. Ben is not, in fact, Benjamin Linus. He is Benjamin Hollyfeld and Lazlo is there posing as a janitor to undermine the research, but fails when Ben turns on him.

The above statement is absolute hogwash.

Ben can no longer hear what Jacob is saying and has begun putting on a show of knowing what he’s saying to retain his leadership role within the group. Either that, or he has chosen to ignore what Jacob has asked of him in the past and is no longer Jacob’s chosen emissary.

Early in the season, Desmond goes back in time and sees Charlie singing on the street. He remembers him, initially because of his time spent on The Island, but during that scene he also remembers that it rains on them (which it then does). When Charlie has a flashback to the exact same scene toward the end of the season, Desmond is not there. This indicates that when Desmond is sent back in time by the fail-safe that he is merely reliving the past events and is unable to actually change them. It would seem that he either entered into an alternate timeline, or his decision to leave Penny and enter the race around the world and get trapped on The Island “reset” the timeline to its original state, erasing the minor alterations he had made up to that point.

The Others, as an organization, do more than just work on The Island. Ben told his people that Bonnie and Greta were on assignment in Canada. While it’s possible that they were recruiting more people to their cause, it’s also possible that there are other avenues of study that Ben has not informed his people about. It’s possible that Ben has assumed control of more than one Dharma Initiative facility and is using its resources to further his goals on The Island.
